The steamship Sir Walter Scott on Loch Katrine in the Trossachs area of Scotland. This photo is taken from the top of Ben A'an on a crystal clear autumn morning. Loch Katrine was mirror calm with only the wake and ripples from the steamship to disturb its surface. The steamship sails at 1030 every morning from Katrine pier to the wee village of Stronachlachar (pronounced Stronladdie) at the other end of the loch. The loch is 14 miles (20km) long and 500 feet (160m) deep. To the left of the steamship on the banks of the loch is Queen Victoria's Lodge. Bottom left is Ellen's Isle lit by the morning sun where The Lady of the Lake lived in the famous story of the same name written by Sir Walter Scott.
