This is a 1980 reproduction of a 1929 Ford Model A Roadster by Shay Motors Corp, spotted in the Kaiser Point West parking lot this weekend. These were not kit cars, but factory assembled cars with a fiberglass body and Ford Pinto mechanicals. Shay sold about 2,000 of them through Ford Dealers in the U.S. and Canada between 1978 and 1982 -- before the inevitable bankruptcy (economics are brutal on small car manufactures, and as of late, big ones, too). These reproductions are probably much safer, more reliable and better built than the originals, but I’m not sure that’s relevant. www.geocities.com/shaymodela/1980page1.html
