It was a very windy day but this osprey managed to catch a huge fish. But flying with it on such a day was another matter and he had a lot of water to fly over. Eventually he dropped it and returned to fish some more. Watching ospreys catch fish on a windy day is amazing. First they have to see a fish beneath the disturbed surface. Then they have to dive to the exact spot - allowing for the wind. Then they have to get the fish out of the water and carry it back to their nest. Getting out of the water is very dangerous for them, because they can't just let go of a fish, it's held on their talons. Amazing!
