Google search suggests this is orbicular granite from Pengonpohjn, Kuru, Finland. Cobble-sized orbs are inches across. Pacific Museum of the Earth, University of British Columbia, BC, Canada with its label lost during renovation. A great link to orbicular igneous rocks with nice photos: www.kristallin.de/orbiculite/orbicular_rocks1.htm My note for educators: - Orbicular granites are extraordinary magmas of ordinary minerals found in the Earth's crust. - Slow cooling = larger crystals. Faster cooling = smaller crystals. All in a tumble - moving, mixing, melting, crystallizing. - At least five sets of events in this one; 3 in the 'pebbles' and 2 in the matrix. That's with by eye, who knows what the microscope would say. What a rock!
