This gorgeous view is from the window of our rental apartment on Ile de la Cite. This complex of buildings and central square were built by Henry IV for his six year old son in 1607! Although the buildings have been renovated, our apartment still had the original stone walls and wood beam ceilings. One of the decorations was an original wood door to the Dauphine's apartments, meaning Henry IV and Louis XIII would have regularly walked through it (it's way too short to be used as a modern door). Talk about feeling immersed in history!! HSS (fairly subtle sliding this time)!!
