I had lots of time driving up Cottonwood Canyon road, so I took the opportunity to investigate an unmarked turnoff. It led to a flat area with what appeared to be blocks of rock sitting on the ground, scattered randomly over an area maybe 100 ft x 100 ft. Because they were all more or less the same height and shape, I thought that they had been placed there. They were roughly 2 to 3 feet on a side. On the other hand, they seemed to go down below the surface of the ground. One particular block caught my eye because it was glowing on its side. On closer examination, I saw that this was a reflection of sunlight from an adjacent horizontal slab. The whole thing was kind of mysterious.
