I knew this place and its dark history before I walked passed it on a hike around Tideswell in the Peak District Derbyshire UK. There was only one way to photograph it therefore, as a stark bleak building. High contrast even at the expense of washing out the sky and stark textures on the stonework. Always best for me to shoot buildings from the corners so the whole thing works as I imagined it to be. Is in fact trendy apartments now, which belie its dark history!
