The photo was taken at dawn from Ben A'an in the Trossachs area of Scotland looking across Loch Katrine to Ben Venue. Ben A'an has recently been voted Scotland's best 'hill with attitude' and its summit offers one of the best viewpoints in Scotland. Come prepared though, Ben A'an is also described as 'the mountain in miniature' and is very steep, the last few hundred feet are up rock steps and ledges. This was my 22nd time in two years climbing Ben A'an and every time the views have been different. What I find amazing is how quickly the scene changes before your eyes, from warm pre dawn colours to cool after dawn shades, then back to warm tones as the sun and clouds play out across the scenery. There is an old saying in Scotland - if you don't like the weather, wait 15 minutes, it will change. How true.
