The Devil's Staircase descends down a narrow rock fissure into Finnich Gorge, Scotland. The staircase was built over 200 years ago. Although it may not look like it from the camera angle, the staircase is nearly vertical in places and some has crumbled away making the climb down quite hazardous. From an old book, "Down in the channel is the Devil's Pulpit, whither he was wont to go when he had anything of importance to say to those of his minions who lived in this area. A long flight of stairs leads to the channel, and when you are there you feel remote from the world. Only the moon is required to produce the most weird and awesome effect." I didn't notice until after I processed the photo but look closely at the tree roots top left. Do you see what I see?
