In the foreground is Morro Bay at a very low tide. The low hills in the background are sand dunes which extend about 5 miles north along the bay. On the other side (west side) of the dunes is the Pacific Ocean. The dune area is called the Sand Spit ; the majority of it is in Montana de Oro State Park
