Enroute back from a visit to Elgin, Scotland, I was travelling through Speyside when I saw this stunning sunset developing. I travelled for miles in the car hoping for a suitable foreground before the colours disappeared from the sky altogether. Just when I was giving up all hope, I came across this small lochan (Avie Lochan) near Aviemore and quickly snapped off some handheld shots. I had to boost the ISO up to 400 and crank the exposure down to f/5.0, due to failing light. The loch surface is frozen. A lucky shot.
