Merry Christmas! This is a composite image/photo illustration made from 4 images. Two 1.6 second exposures of myself using rear curtain sync, an image I shot of some water and a texture for the background. I had planned on shooting this photo over a year a half ago, but I couldn't wrap my head around how I was going to do it. It was a lot more work than it actually looks like...by the time I gathered the props, staged the scene, styled myself, set up lighting, timed my shots, calculated the poses, shot the photo and did the editing it took almost a day. The exposure of myself wrapped in Christmas lights with wet hair had to be perfectly timed to capture the motion. It was one of those “it freezes the motion, or else it get's the strobes again” kinda things. And due to the lighting setup I couldn’t capture enough detail in the water splashing from my head, but it did capture enough water to give me a basic pattern so that I could exaggerate it with a pre-shot water photo. The other photo of me dressed up like Santa was easy to shoot. I'm happy with how it turned out, it looks pretty close to how I saw it in my head before I shot it, although I pictured it being framed from higher up and at a steeper angle. For lighting on the shot of the subject wrapped in Christmas lights. I used a 8”x8” soft box with a Yongnuo yn-460II inside, placed to right and above the subject pointing downwards at the predetermined pose destination. For the shot of me in the Santa suit I left the 8'x8' soft box where it was and added a 3'x2' with a yn-560ii soft box to the rear left of the subject pointed at the subject a 45 degree angle. I also hung some Christmas slight behind the subject and had them swing in and out of the frame. I shot the water against a black background. I used 3x2ft soft boxes with a Yongnuo yn-560II in one and a Minotla 4000af in the other to the rear of the spray pointed at the spray at a 45degree angle and placed the 8x8 inch soft box above the spray with a Yongnuo yn-460II inside. Al strobes were triggered using a PT-04 trigger/receiver set.
