Assynt in the North West Highlands of Scotland. The ancient legends of the Highlands tell of a fight between two brothers Unt and Ass-Unt, (meaning the Man of Peace and the Man of Discord). The latter having won the tussle gave his name to the land of Assunt (now Assynt). The photo was taken at dawn looking northwards from An Stac (meaning the pinnacle), now named Stac Pollaidh. The rocks in the foreground are 1.2 billion years old, some of the oldest on Earth.
