Every time I upload to flickr I browse the groups that I post my work in. I comment and favorite photos in each and evey group I post in. A few weeks ago I came across www.flickr.com/photos/patnode-rainbowman/ and I wanted to make something like the artwork that he does. So here was my first attempt at what I would describe as refracted light painting. To make this image I focused my camera on some CD's and DVD's that I had hung from my ceiling using 12 gauge wire. I set the aperture on my lens to somewhere between f8 and f22 for various shots and I set my shutter speed somewhere between 4-30 seconds depending on the aperture setting. I turned off all the lights in the room and lit the CD's and DVD's using a little LED pen light. I moved the CD's and the light source as the exposures were taken. I took all the photos with my pentax k-30 with a smc pentax-a 50mm 1.7 lens attached. Then brought them into photoshop for mirroring and processing. This was fun to make.
