The massive 25m tall Central Tower of the Minster from the High Street. The Central Tower, is 84' tall but is far wider then West Tower. It is the oldest part of the Minster and once contained a tall spire approximatly 175' (53m tall). The lower part of the Central Tower was built soon after 1043, the upper stories were built between 1120 and 1180. Some time during the next century, the spire was built on to the Central Tower. However, the spire fell down during a storm in 1600.
