I'm now joining the current century with this new Garmin GPS. In many ways, I like relying on old fashioned way finding, reading maps, and instinctively knowing where north is. However, I did get to appreciate these things in 2008 when I spent a month in Iceland; the people whose house I watched had one on the car they left for me, and it was indispensible for getting places (plus, it was a friendly english voice talking to me). But I also am looking at a driving trip in June to LA for the NMC summer conference, and locations in LA totally defy my sense of geography. Luckily, someone knows that and got me this great birthday gift.
