Since Darwin we have the model of evolution, which also implies, that our far ancestors are monkeys. But why stop there? Who were the ancestors of our ancestors? If you go further back, you will find them as small mammals, living about 150 million years long next to the dinosaurs, until these became extinct about 65 million years ago. Things like breasts, warm blood and hair we received from them. Even further back, about 310 million years ago, we just escaped water in form of reptiles. From them we inherit a watertight skin without scales, a spine without ribs in the lumbar region and eardrums. Our journey back in time let´s us pass now the amphibians, about 360 million years ago, from whom we have a movable neck, movable wrists and ankles and five fingers, and toes on hand and foot. And finally, for this picture, we reach the fish, which exist since about 500 million years. Thankful we can be for a spine, two arms, two legs, teeth, lungs the habit to eat with the mouth and to breathe. What a journey, and it does not stop there, but maybe we just take a rest, and use it to reflect a little. How far have we come, or how distant did we get from the place which spends all that we need to live? How do we treat our fellow-beings, the fish, the mammals, the amphibians, and many more, with whom we share this place with? We live in our own world nowadays. But the truth is: There is no own world, just this ONE planet earth.
