I was driving up to Ophir Pass, northwest of Silverton, Colorado, and I stopped to take a picture. I was surprised to hear the familiar "baa-aa" of sheep. Looking around, I couldn't see any. So I got back in the truck and continued on. Just before the pass, I came over a rise and saw this scene -- hundreds of sheep grazing before me. There was the shepherd standing by the road with a sheep dog lying beside him. I think he had another dog working the flock because occasionally the shepherd would whistle. He seemed to want to start a friendly conversation but I speak no Spanish and he spoke no English, so after a few gestures and nods, I went on my way. Technically this shot is not quite a success because the foreground is out of focus. I did shoot two frames, with one of them on the foreground, and blended them in Photoshop, but I didn't quite get the focus right. If you want to count the sheep, check out the Original size.
