Harnish Run, Texter Mountain Nature Preserve, Lancaster County. The preserve, owned and managed by the Lancaster County Conservancy, protects 100-plus acres of Appalachian Highlands hardwood forest. A blue-blazed trail traverses the property. Harnish Run cascades through a deep, cobble-filled ravine. Numerous springs and seeps border the stream within the narrow floodplain. The rich, saturated soil will soon give rise to skunk cabbage and other early-spring vegetation.
