This was taken up above Medano Lake, in the Sangre De Cristos behind Colorado's Gread Sand Dunes. After we were turned away from camping in the park we decided to just backpack up here and it was a pretty cool place! The peak to the left is the iconic one behind all Sand Dunes Pictures, and the valley to the right is on the east side of the Mountain Range. By the time we got up there, after breaking trail through snowfields and runoff creeks we were thrilled to find a tiny lumpy patch of un-snowy land to pitch a tent. Otherwise it was a big barren frozen basin with a tiny frozen pond. Cool place! Also for a bit of scale notice my backpacking buddy, Pierce Martin. He is on the left side of the shot
