What was once the iconic William Glen is now several piles of granulated concrete. Sacramento's Town & Country Village shopping center was on the leading edge of the growth of American suburbia opened it's doors in 1947. Along with televisions, tail fins and tract houses, the shopping center symbolized a bright, consumerist future. Although the center will reopen in another incarnation, it won't look like George Jetson's neighborhood. But nothing ever stays the same and the future is notoriously hard to predict.
