One of many white pine stumps, Lycoming County, within the Bark Cabin Natural Area of Tiadaghton State Forest. The forest was selectively logged more than a century ago. The largest, most highly valued white pines were logged; the hemlocks, hardwoods, and lower-valued white pines were spared. Slow to decay, the stumps will likely remain for many years to come.
