It was about an hour before sunset when I reached the Bisti parking lot. The sky was clear with a few clouds that held out hope for a good sunset. I fast-hiked out to the Eggs. By the time I got there, a fog bank had moved in and it was starting to get dark. I took a few quick shots and headed back to the truck. Soon it was dark and my headlamp cast a white tunnel through the fog. It was my good fortune that a solar flare didn't erupt and fry the GPS satellites, for they were the only things that got me back to the warmth and dryness of my sleeping bag. I couldn't see the truck, even with the light, until I was about 50 feet away. I tucked in for the night. Around 11:30 somebody about a quarter of a mile away started up an air compressor, but fortunately the racket only lasted a few minutes. The next morning it was still very foggy as I slowly made my way to Farmington and a nice breakfast of (real) eggs and bacon. Then it was on to Sidestep!
