This handsome dude is my grandfather, my Dad's dad, Abraham Levine. The portrait was when he was vice-president of Baltimore Contractors, a period of time when his company completed projects like the old Cole Fieldhoouse at the University of Maryland. He passed away in 1956, 7 years before I was even born- I was to be named after him; fortuantely my Mom realized that "Abraham" might have been an old fashioned name, so she modernized it to Alan. He was only 51 when he passed away, and my grandmother lived another 47 years, outliving both of her children and pretty much everyone else in her family. I am intrigued by his stare- what was he thinking at this time? What is on his mind?
