The Christchurch Art Gallery is unlikely to reopen for another two years.Earthquake damage to the glass-fronted building is more extensive than first thought, with a report outlining the latest repair options to go before city councillors in about two months, the council says. The gallery, often regarded as one of the safest buildings in the city, has been closed to the public since the February 2011 quake. It became Civil Defence headquarters after that earthquake and the September 2010 event.Several reopening dates have been mooted since, the latest of which was mid-2014. However, gallery director Jenny Harper told The Press the timeframe was now "looking more like 2015".
