View of Ben Venue in The Trossachs area of Scotland with its twin peaks shrouded in cloud. At the foot of the mountain is Loch Katrine, which stretches for 14 miles. In the far distance on the right is Glengyle, birthplace of 'Rob Roy' McGregor. The photo is taken about 0600 hours from the top of Ben A'an after an early morning climb. Ben A'an may not be one of the tallest mountains but its certainly one of the steepest. I arrived at the top soaked in sweat only to find that the Highland midges had me on their menu for breakfast. On the way down about 0900 hours I passed a group of Dutch tourists on their way up, wearing short sleeved shirts and shorts. They were on their way to a 'midge fest', only I was too polite to tell them.
