Big deal for us: our first Super Galaxy arrived yesterday. While the C-5 has been the mainstay of American heavy lifting since the Vietnam War, they're starting to show their age. The airframes have plenty of life in them, so the solution was a massive refurbishment, with new engines (same as Airbus A-300 and B-767) and many other systems. The end result is an airplane that can fly further, carry more and do it more economically. The renamed C-5M Super Galaxy is projected to be in the fleet until at least 2040.
