This is An Teallach, shot as dawn breaks in the Highlands of Scotland. An Teallach (pronounced An Chelluck) translates from Gaidhlig (Scots Gaelic) as 'the hearthstone of the forge', or simply The Forge. It gets its name from its sandstone which turns blood red when the first light of the dawn sun strikes the mountain in August. You have to be there to witness this, it only lasts about 15 minutes, but is one of the great sights of the Highlands. I camped out at Loch Toll an Lochan, the small loch high up in the mountains crucible just to see this sight. I rewarded myself with a wee nip of 25 year old malt whisky (just to keep out the morning chill). Slainte Mhath.
