Boundary placard, Texter Mountain Nature Preserve, Lancaster County. Owned and managed by the Lancaster County Conservancy, the preserve protects 200-plus acres of Appalachian Highlands mixed hardwood forest. A blue-blazed trail traverses the property. Occupying the rugged, remote northern tip of Lancaster County, the preserve offers seclusion and solitude in one of the few tracts of undisturbed forest in the area. Nearby, on private property, is the highest elevation in the county (about 1180 feet [360 meters]).
