This is a bronze medal issued to commemorate the controversial birth of the duc de Bordeaux on the 29th of September, 1820. The obverse shows the duchess holding her newborn son, with her late husband's bust in the right background. The legend says "GOD HAS GIVEN US" and "OUR HEARTS AND OUR ARMS TO HIM". The reverse shows St. Michael defeating the devil, and the birth-date (the feast of St. Michael) 29 Sept. 1820. I find it a little odd that there really isn't any information on the medal as to what's being celebrated and unless you're already familiar with the event, you wouldn't have a clue. Other than the date, there's really nothing to tie this medal to the birth of the Duke of Bordeaux.
