My choice for photo fitting D'Arcy's February theme for the 2009/265 Flickr Group. The laptop of course is both a place of work and play and fuzzy ground in between, but really it is my office, my lab. But the cool Space Shuttle pen is a story and begs for play. Former Maricopa colleague (and current CyberSalon drinking buddy) Sian Proctor is cool not only because she has a PhD in Geology from ASU (where I fell short with a M.S. + 0.5 PhD) and teaches Geology at South Mountain Community College-- but because she made the first cut and had an interview with NASA for the astronaut program (read more...). At our last CyberSalon gathering in Mesa, she brought us all some NASA swag (I wonder if that over eager waitress ended up with something, she was slobbering over the toys). No matter what happens, just getting a crack at this is HUGE. We want her to go so she can twitter from space! The other thing about Sian is she was pretty much shy of this tech stuff a year ago but with help from friends, she has her own domain, blog, video blog, etc. But yeah, the pen is more fun to play with than to write with. It has been zooming around the house makjng perfect landings on the table.
