This Würdemann's Heron was captured on its nest at Wakodahatchee Wetlands, Palm Beach County, Florida on 8 February 2012. The Würdemann's is rare and is considered a hybrid between a Great White Heron and a Great Blue Heron. Notice the white front of the bird and the whiter head. There's been a lot written about this and a great deal of argument. The official line seems to be that it is now considered a color variation of a Great Blue Heron rather than a sub-species.
