Drive south down US 101 26 miles from Forks, Washington, and just as the highway reaches the coast you will arrive at Ruby Beach. This rugged but lovely area is part of the Olympic National Park. Because the beach is only a few hundred feet from the parking lot, there are usually dozens of people there on any summer day. I've visited there several times and taken some nice sunset photos. But you never know until you get there what the weather will be like. It could be a nice sunny day in the parking lot and completely fogged in on the beach. I've been there for sunrise but it's always been too foggy.
