The summit to the right is the Hochtor. At 2,369 m (7,772 ft), it is the highest mountain in the Ennstaler Alps in Styria, Austria. The mountain is part of the Gesäuse National Park. The church in front is the pilgrimage church Frauenberg. My next image shows the view from the church across the valley of the river Enss. The shape of the towers is called "onion dome" (German: Zwiebelturm), for obvious reasons. They are usually made of multy-layered copper sheet. The first onion domes appeared in southern Germany in the middle of the 16th century. After damage in the Thirty Year's war, many churches were rebuilt with onion domes, which soon became typical for catholic churches in Baroque style all over southern Germany and Austria. The Frauenberg pilgrimage church has its origins more than 600 years ago, and, like many others, it was redesigned during the time of Counter-Reformation between 1682 and 1702 in Baroque style. It is situated about 6 km to the west of the more famous Admont Abbey. (Source: Wikipedia)
