"The Olde Boars Head Middleton." Dating back to the 16th century this half-timbered building is still a popular and comfortable pub. Surrounded by 19th and 20th century buildings it's located on the main road from Middleton to Rochdale. Leaflets inside the pub tell visitors about its origins in 1632, the changes over the centuries, how the pub got its name, that is was used as a court, And it's connection to the Assheton family (Middleton’s Lords of the Manor), and the Peterloo Massacre of 1819.
