The former civic building in Tuam St will be demolished to make way for a new transport interchange. The 1939 former Millers department store is on the site earmarked for a transport interchange in the new Central Christchurch Development Unit (CCDU) blueprint. The building would be demolished, a Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority spokeswoman confirmed, saying: "The old Civic Building will be acquired by the Crown and demolished to make way for the new transport interchange."
