Every time I put up a shot of a bird with its feathers standing, my friend Val Smith (smithval46) said "great rouse" so eventually I looked up the word. Sure enough its an old English word meaning just that, mostly used in falconry. So Flickr buddies we have a new word and here's a good example provided by the White Morph Reddish Egret - thanks Val.
