Sankt Ilgen, or "St. Ägydius in der Haid", is a little pilgrimage church near the Austrian viallage Lafnitz in eastern Styria. This church is already the fourth building in this location. The territory was donated to the Archbishop of Salzburg in the year 864, the corresponding certificate being one of the oldest documents of the country. In 1544, a chapel stood in this location. Archeological excavations revealed several graves in the area of today's sacristry. During the anti-Habsburg uprisings of the Kuruc (1680-1711), parts of the church were removed and later rebuilt with a tower. The church was consecrated in 1714, the tower renewed in 1760. Further restorations were done in 1959 and 1981.
