So driving back from Crested Butte a week or so from a weekend of mountain biking, I FINALLY got an opportunaty to shoot the Milky Way. Just happened to look out the window while driving through South Park, CO, and though "Holy snap, I can actually see the thing". I've been trying to get an chance to shoot this galaxy we live in (well, more just hoping a chance falls into my lap) for about a year. Between busy work schedules and some bad luck with weather I haven't shot it with my newer 5D Mark ii yet. So alas! A stroke of good luck put me right at a scenic pull out just as the rain clouds disappeared. Got the usual shots (which I'll probably post sometime) of the bikes and truck, but this one has to be my favorite. Had no light painting materials except for my headlamp. So I was surprised anything turned out. As always, I looked pretty goof-tastic, running around in flip flops through the pitch black grasses, only to stop and do the most spectacularly awkward interpretive dance trying to get an orb with the light. This one for some reason flared nicely, mid streak. No PP effect. Couldn't replicate it afterwards. What luck! More Places to find me: Zach Dischner Photography | 500px Blog: 2manventure
