The first real winter snow storms arrive in Scotland at the end of November, as the cold air from the Artic is pulled down by the jet stream. I had climbed Beinn a'Chrulaiste in early morning before the sun was up to get photographs of the dawn on Buachaille Etive Mhor and the mountains of Glencoe. As I was standing behind my camera and tripod a few snow flurries blew past, then it got heavier, then a blizzard blew over coating the mountain tops with snow. In a few weeks this whole area will be covered in snow several feet deep in places - then the fun will really begin.
